Music Ministries
Worship Choir
The Worship Choir is a vital part of worship at Mud Creek Baptist Church. The Choir is committed to teaching one another to love and worship God while introducing people to the Lord Jesus Christ through the music ministry at Mud Creek. This music ministry group participates weekly in both worship services on Sunday morning and Wednesday evening worship. In addition to these worship services, the Worship Choir rehearses every Wednesday evening from 5:30 PM until service begins, and Sunday mornings at 8:00 AM. These worship opportunities and rehearsals require a significant commitment on the part of the Choir member, and consistent attendance is expected of every member of the Worship Choir.
Every year, members of the Worship Choir are presented with the opportunity to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with others through the Easter Celebration. The Easter Celebration takes place on Palm Sunday weekend every year, and is an elaborate celebration of the ministry, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This presentation reaches many in the community who do not know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord. Extra Sunday afternoon rehearsals are also required of participants in the Easter Celebration. Worship Orchestra
The Worship Orchestra is a central group in music ministry at Mud Creek Baptist Church. This group of musicians provide essential worship accompaniment in all services on Sunday morning and Wednesday evening worship. In addition to participation in these services, members of the Worship Orchestra rehearse every Sunday morning at 8:00 AM and Wednesday evening at 5:30 PM in the Sanctuary. These worship opportunities and rehearsals require a significant commitment on the part of the Orchestra member, and consistent attendance is expected of every participant. High school students who participate in school band and adults are encouraged to audition for Chris Roberts to become part of this group. Any high school student or adult desiring to join the Mud Creek Baptist Church Worship Orchestra should contact the music ministry office. We welcome individuals into this ministry with willing hearts to serve Almighty God. The Worship Orchestra at Mud Creek Baptist Church is asked every year to participate in the Easter Celebration. This presentation is part of the purpose of the music ministry at Mud Creek Baptist Church, which is to serve God’s purpose for our generation and accomplish the Great Commission given to believers in Matthew 28: 18-20. In the Easter Celebration, the Worship Orchestra plays every evening as the gospel of Jesus Christ is presented to those who attend. The Easter Celebration is held every year on Palm Sunday weekend. Because of the volume of extra music required, additional Sunday afternoon rehearsals are held for the Orchestra several months prior to this event.
Drama Ministry
The Drama Ministry of Mud Creek Baptist Church is perhaps one of the most vital teams in the communication of the gospel to those who are lost. This group of volunteers is part of the Easter Celebration every year. This presentation reaches thousands in our community with the message of Jesus Christ. Under the instruction of our Drama Director, Lynn Cooper, the Drama Ministry Team tells the story of the birth, life, ministry, death, and glorious resurrection of Jesus Christ. Each member helps to re-enact this story to thousands who come to each presentation. The Drama Ministry is comprised of volunteers ranging in all ages. Children, youth, and adults are encouraged to join and participate in both productions. Both men and women serve in the Drama Ministry in a variety of acting roles. No experience is necessary to join this group of individuals, just a willing heart to serve Jesus Christ and communicate His message to those who come to hear. Sanctuary Handbell Choir
Our Sanctuary Handbell Choir provides musical selections for worship services and special music and worship ministry events, especially during Christmas and Easter. Currently a two-octave choir of experienced ringers, we hope to add a third octave of handbells in 2012 and expand our personnel. Our Sanctuary Handbell Choir plans to participate in the Regional Handbell Festival sponsored by the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina held each February.
Preschool Choir
Studies show that the earlier a child becomes involved in musical experiences, the better rounded the child will become in his/her adaptability to life’s experiences. Mud Creek Baptist Church is blessed to have capable, experienced, and qualified leadership in this area. Our Preschool Choir, under the direction of Janet Roberts and team, promotes a weekly enrichment experience for the preschooler through structured musical experiences that are fun, underscoring Jesus’ love for them. Kidz Choir
The Kidz Choir is a wonderful opportunity for children to worship and praise God through music. The Mud Creek Baptist Church Kidz Choir presents a spring musical every year. In addition, the children of Kidz Choir have the opportunity to sing in worship at various times throughout the year. Kidz Choir is led by Melissa Plyler and team. Student Choir
The Student Choir ministry, which functions in cooperation with the overall High School and Middle School ministries, is committed to providing an encouraging atmosphere for youth to experience music that is appealing to their tastes while affirming Biblical truths. The Student Choir, which is open to all students grades 6-9, often provides a three-month experience each year in which the students lead in worship and possibly participate in a youth choir festival. Technical Support
Areas of ministry that greatly enhance our music and worship at Mud Creek Baptist Church involve technical support in sound, lighting, and video production. Our sound and lighting teams provide technical support for our three Sunday morning worship services, our Wednesday evening worship service, and special performances and services throughout each year. Our video production team, under the direction of Ryan Cumbo, provides support for all worship services, special presentations, and our weekly internet broadcast. Our worship is enhanced on a weekly basis through professionally-produced video segments which highlight specific ministries throughout our church. This vital service is provided through the efforts of our video production team. All teams are staffed by volunteers and information may be obtained by contacting Jimmy Burgess, Worship Associate, and Ryan Cumbo, Video Production Team Leader.
